The History of Yew Tree Farm
When I bought Yew Tree Farm in August 2019, I wanted people to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful Lincolnshire coast and the Humber Estuary as I have been fortunate to since I was child, as well as the stunning countryside surrounding the farm, and this was the main drive to design this purpose built Caravan Site. The area offer an array of activities both on land and around the canals, including picturesque walks and, for those of a more active nature, canoeing, paddle boarding, cycling and much more.
During the year 2020, we renovated the farmhouse, keeping the original frontage but bring it into the present with a wraparound extension providing tasteful open living to the rear.
Through 2021, we concentrated on bringing the yard up to date, building a large shed to house our historic tractor museum. The tractors would have been used locally from the 1940s to present day. Pre 1940s horses would have been used to carry out work on the farm. We incorporated the original wooden horse feed manger as a feature below our sink in the refurbished washing up area. We also reintroduced (after 40 years) a flock of commercial sheep, including Texel and Texel cross mules and in 2023 three Suffolk ewes.
In 2021/2022, we built a bespoke caravan site. Our aim was to welcome the caravanning public to enjoy Yew Tree Farm and the surrounding area.
Since we officially opened our doors in August 2022, we had one goal in mind: offering our guests a comfortable, affordable and all around exceptional place to stay.
In our first year we were shortlisted for best CL by the caravan and motorhome club.
Yew Tree Farm Touring Caravan covers every aspect of your stay: ideal countryside position and yet close to various local attractions, perfectly set caravan pitches, and superb facilities.
We are currently rebuilding a Tudor barn as it was at the rear of the toilet block for caravanners to use as a community room and to celebrate events. We have also received planning permission to excavate a lake to the rear of the dog walk area to encourage more wildlife to the site and to provide fishing on site. We shall be planting trees in and around two new picnic areas close to the lake.
